JVA Düsseldorf: Modern penal system on 125,000 square metres

Düsseldorf Prison (JVA) is one of the largest and most modern prisons in North Rhine-Westphalia with 850 prison places. Opened in 2012, the prison is located on a 125,000 square metre site in Ratingen and offers inmates modern accommodation in predominantly solitary confinement rooms. With construction costs of around 190 million euros, the facility is the largest investment in the NRW prison system for more than 60 years.
