TUIfly, STUV, and PYLOCX – A smart security concept for cash safes at airports
From a two-key system to a digital access solution
The challenge
In 2015, TUIfly faced a major logistical challenge: emptying cash safes at German airports always required two authorized persons—a TUIfly employee and a security service provider. This solution was not only costly and inflexible, but also prone to errors due to manual key management.
The solution
By implementing the innovative PLYOCX system – in close cooperation with experienced technology partner STUV – digital, keyless access was achieved. The battery-free locks with temporary one-time codes enabled completely autonomous access control by an external security service provider.
"STUV impresses with its deep understanding of our operational requirements. The switch to PYLOCX was professional, efficient, and accompanied by excellent technical support." — Reinhold Heinz, TUIfly GmbH, Head of Accounting
The result
The switch to the digital access concept brought TUIfly decisive advantages:
- Reduction in personnel costs: TUIfly employees were completely relieved of their duties in this process
- Full transparency: every access is digitally documented
- Significantly higher efficiency: Fast, predictable, and automated emptying.
- No more key management necessary
- Increased security: Access rights can be assigned centrally, temporarily restricted, and revoked immediately.
Conclusion
The project demonstrates how technological innovation and strong implementation partners such as STUV can sustainably optimize complex processes in safety-critical environments. The introduction of PYLOCX has enabled TUIfly to achieve a new dimension of efficiency, safety, and operational clarity—with long-term benefits for its entire business.
